Labor Day is just around the corner and to many it marks the official end to summer. However, that doesn’t mean music festival season is over. There are plenty of festivals still taking place in the warmer parts of the country like Austin City Limits next month. The most important thing three things you should remember to bring during a music festival are (1) your wristband/ticket (2) positive vibes (3) an open mind. People have a wide variety of experiences at music festivals and it really comes down to what you make of it. It’s an outdoor event so the weather is unpredictable and you might have to endure high temperatures or even rain. The key to all of this is plan, plan, plan!
Do you research before you get to the festival gates by reading blogs, forums and asking friends.I remember my first festival 6 years ago like it was a short song ago. It was Bonnaroo and I went with two seasoned vets (thankfully) so I was all squared away. Although some may say “all music festivals are the same,” they definitely are not! Rules, layouts, an amenities vary by festivals. Make sure you research on the specific festival you are going to. I’ve been to over 11 different major US music festivals and each one had its own unique offerings.
If you happen to a first timer going to one of these festivals like Music Midtown or Life is Beautiful, here are just a few things you should pack.
Music Festival Packing List:
#1 Backpack-Needed for all of the items below
#2 Water bottle-Stay hydrated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#3 Bandana-This is for sweat, dust and anything else you can imagine. It really will come in handy
#4 Sunscreen—Don’t go back to work red, burnt and peeling. Use some sunscreen!
#5 Blanket—As much as you think you’ll jam out all day, you’ll likely get tired and need a breather
#6 Coozie—Keep your drink cold during sets
#7 Hand Sanitizer—You don’t want to enjoy delicious festival food with dirty hands
#8 Kleenex or Tissue –Don’t get stuck in a porta john without tissue
#9 Handheld Fan-Once again, stay as cool as possible
#10 Portable Charger-You’re likely going to lose your friends and you will need a full battery
#11 All of your personal toiletries-Don’t be the smelly one in the crowd…gross!
#12 Comfortable Shoes – You’re going to be standing a lot and your feet will likely get stepped on
