Events I love: Art Deco Affair

This year, I had the pleasure of serving on the host committee for the Frist Center’s annual Art Deco Affair party. I love any event where there is a theme, especially if the theme is Old Hollywood. I got to channel my inner Dorothy Dandridge and Audrey Hepburn for the evening. It was a night full of good food, great people and dancing all for a great cause. DJ AyDamn set the tone with 1930s inspired music and there were lite bites and an open bar (doesn’t get much better than that). We celebrated the Golden Age of Glamour while supporting the care of the Frist’s 1930s art deco building.

My Look for the Art Deco Affair

My father is a historian and a member of the Frist with my mother. This event was truly special to me and I was happy to host. As Nashville booms and grows, it’s important to remember to care for the historic sites that truly make Music City great. The evening also included access to the hands-on activities in the award-winning Martin ArtQuest Gallery, exclusive talks about Ancestral Modern: Australian Aboriginal Art from the Kaplan & Levi Collection and State of the Art: Discovering American Art Now.

Art Deco Affair is definitely one of Nashville’s premier summer events. Be sure to mark your calendar for next year’s affair. In the meantime, check out more of the Frist’s summer events like “Frist Fridays Summer Concert Series” http://fristcenter.org/. The Frist is a staple of Nashville and there are always little gems to be found on their events calendar.
